Photogrammetry System
Photogrammetry System |
A brief introduction to Photogrammetry System is given to those who are
unfamiliar with the technology.
The fundamental principle used by Photogrammetry System is triangulation. By taking
photographs in at least two different places, it is possible to develop
"sight lines" of each camera at the points of the object. These lines
of sight (sometimes called rays because of their optical nature) are cut
mathematically to produce three-dimensional coordinates of interesting points.
Triangulation is also the principle that is used by theodolites for coordinated
measurements. If you know these instruments, you will find many similarities
(and some differences) between photogrammetry and theodolites. Even closer to
home, triangulation is also the way in which your two eyes work together to
estimate the distance (perception of depth).

This primer is divided into two parts.
The photograph describes the photographic principles involved in Photogrammetry System, while metrology describes the techniques for producing
three-dimensional coordinates of two-dimensional photographs.
To perform photogrammetric
measurements, the object must be recorded from different directions with a
high-quality digital camera. There is no need to preserve the exact position of
the camera. Some coded measurement markers are applied to the device or
directly to the object and are used for the automatic evaluation process. The
scale bars are placed next to the object. Their dimensions are transferred to
the measurement to provide a scale and to observe the accuracy of the
measurement. The surface points to be measured must be marked with markings or
removable adapters. The thicknesses of these markers are precisely known in the
system. Another method is to score points or sections with a pen. Each drawn
point or line is precisely defined by algorithms for image processing. The
camera images are immediately transferred to the computer via a super fast
wireless network or a flash card reader. From there, the computer performs
dimensional analyzes and evaluations.
Optimize your complex 3D scanning
projects with our photogrammetry equipment. The system combines high precision
and simple operation in a cost-effective solution for obtaining 3D data and 3D
reference points with measurement adapters.
